VGM Hospital launched a dedicated dyspepsia centre on Wednesday, aimed at providing neurogastroenterology care with advanced diagnostic facilities, according to a release from the hospital.
The centre was inaugurated in the presence of former Western Australia Minister Alanah McTiernan, Assistant Minister to the Attorney General of Australia Yaz Mubarakai, and MLA Jagadish Krishnan.
V.G. Mohan Prasad, founder-chairperson, said dyspepsia affects 20–30% of people globally, but a clear cause is identified only in a small proportion.
A study conducted at the hospital between 2022 and 2024 on 839 patients with unexplained dyspepsia found that 52% had Helicobacter pylori infection, while other causes were identified using advanced tests, the release said. The centre offers breath tests and other diagnostics to identify causes and provide treatment, it added.
