The Vishwa Konkani Kendra, Mangaluru, has informed all the 34 students who appeared for the Karnataka class 10 board examinations taking Konkani as the third language have passed the exams, thus achieving 100% results.

“Among them, Gagan Bhatt and Karan Singh of Nalanda English Medium School in Mangaluru, and Sandhya of SVT School in Karkala, scored 100 marks in the language paper,” said Kasturi Mohan Pai, a trustee of the Vishwa Konkani Kendra.

For the past 17 years, Vishwa Konkani Kendra has provided monthly honorarium to Konkani teachers, scholarships to students, and training in written Konkani to several schools in the three coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada in Karnataka. Till date, more than 4,000 students have become truly literate in Konkani language.
