Ennore police apprehended five persons, including two minors, for injuring a woman and attempting to steal her two-wheeler on Sunday.
Police sources said that unidentified persons damaged two-wheelers parked on Third Street near Ernaniswarar Koil in Ennore on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. One of the vehicle owners, Deepa, woke up and confronted them for damaging the vehicles. The youths, who were allegedly in an intoxicated condition, attacked her by hurling stones before fleeing the spot.
Deepa was later treated at a hospital for an injury to her hand and lodged a complaint with the police.
Based on her complaint, the police conducted an investigation and apprehended five persons, including two juveniles. Police sources said the suspects used to steal vehicles parked on the streets without side locks.
