Five juveniles and owners of five two-wheelers were booked after a video of a group of 11 minors performing a dangerous motorcycle stunt on Coimbatore–Pollachi Road surfaced. The police also seized the five two-wheelers the minors used for the stunts.According to the police, a video featuring a group of youth riding motorcycles in a reckless manner on the Coimbatore–Pollachi Road near Ezhur Pirivu within the limits of Chettipalayam police station a few days ago was widely circulated on social media. Pillion riders were seen dragging the centre stand of the two-wheelers on the road, creating sparks and compromising public safety.A special team headed by Chettipalayam Inspector Selvaragavan launched an investigation and found that 11 school students from the Kinathukadavu area had been involved in the incident.The police said five juveniles, who rode the motorcycles, and as many vehicle owners were booked. Parents of all the juveniles were summoned to the police station, and they were sensitised to the legal consequences of allowing minors to drive motor vehicles.The Coimbatore District Police stated that allowing juveniles to drive is a punishable offence and can lead to criminal action against both the rider and the vehicle owner.
