Director General of Prisons Soumya Mishra on Monday inaugurated a fuel station, inspected a women’s prison and opened a new administrative building during an official visit to Warangal district.
She inaugurated the 32nd ‘My Nation’ filling station of Indian Oil Corporation at Khanapur in Narsampet, aimed at providing livelihood opportunities to reformed and released prisoners. Addressing those present, she said such initiatives support reintegration by offering structured employment and stability.
The DG Prisons later visited the Special Prison for Women at Narsampet, where she reviewed security arrangements, inmate welfare, food quality, healthcare and hygiene. She interacted with inmates and encouraged participation in rehabilitation and skill development programmes.
She also inaugurated a newly constructed administrative building at Central Prison, Warangal at Mamnoor. Officials said the facility would improve administrative efficiency and strengthen infrastructure.
During the visit, she emphasised the need for continued focus on security, modernisation and welfare measures across prison institutions. Senior officials, including DIG Prisons M. Sampath, Warangal DCP Ankit Kumar, Superintendent T. Kalasagar and representatives of Indian Oil Corporation, were present.
