The Telangana Prisons Department stall at Numaish 2026, part of the All India Industrial Exhibition at Nampally, was inaugurated on Wednesday by Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, along with IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu and Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
Officials said the Telangana Prisons Department has been participating continuously in the All India Industrial Exhibition for over five decades, setting up a dedicated stall to display and sell products manufactured by prison inmates. Over the years, the stall has emerged as a regular attraction for visitors and has won the best government sector stall award on several occasions for presentation, product quality and public engagement.
The department said the initiative reflects its focus on reformation, skill development and economic rehabilitation of inmates. Through vocational training and organised prison industries, inmates are trained as artisans and workers, with the wages earned providing financial support to their families and aiding reintegration after release.
Special Chief Secretary C. V. Anand and Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services Soumya Mishra were present at the inauguration, along with senior officers of the Prisons Department.
