Amid scant summer rainfall, parts of Kerala continued to experience hot and humid conditions, with several districts recording high temperatures.

According to 24-hour data released by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) at 8.30 am on Monday (April 27, 2026), Palakkad recorded the highest temperature in the State, with the maximum temperature registering 40.1 degrees Celsius. It was followed by Punalur in Kollam district, which recorded 39.5 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Palode in Thiruvananthapuram recorded 2 cm of rain during the same period, while no other stations in Kerala witnessed any significant amount of rainfall during the period.

According to the latest heat alert issued by the IMD, maximum temperatures are likely to be around 40˚C at isolated places in Palakkad district; 39˚C in Kollam district; 38˚C in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, Kozhikode districts; 37˚C in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kannur and Kasaragod districts; 36˚C in Thiruvananthapuram district (3 to 4˚C above normal) until April 28. As a result, hot and humid weather is likely over these districts except in hilly areas till April 28 due to high temperature and humidity.
