Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh on Saturday alleged that “private money” was spent to furnish Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal’s newly allotted official residence at Lodhi Estate, describing it as ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’,
AAP dismissed the claim as “fake” and threatened to file a defamation case against Mr. Singh.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, Mr. Singh showed what he claimed were pictures of the Type VII bungalow at 95 Lodhi Estate, allotted to the AAP national convener following a court order.
Displaying the images, the Minister pointed to multiple bedrooms, drawing rooms, and upscale furnishings and claimed that the Central Public Works Department does not spend so much on such allotments. “The Aam Aadmi Party should be called ‘Alishaan Aadmi Party’. Will Kejriwal disclose how much money has been spent on the new Sheesh Mahal and where it came from?” Mr. Singh said. He alleged that the former Chief Minister had abandoned his image of simplicity and had become habituated to living in a “luxurious manner”.
Mr. Kejriwal, who moved into the residence on Friday, said the house had been allotted to him by the Central government in compliance with a court order, given his position as AAP’s national convener. “I have now shifted to that house with my family,” he posted on X.
