After three days of RTC buses being off the roads, intense negotiations between the Telangana government and RTC Unions succeeded late on Friday night. Restoration of bus services is expected from Saturday morning.
On Friday, both the government and RTC JAC leaders sat across the table, and paid their respects to K Shankar Goud, the driver who lost his life during the protests.
According to sources, the group of ministers led by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, agreed to several of the 32 demands put forward by the JAC.
According to sources, a key demand, revision of pay of 10%, was approved. The union elections were greenlit and the TGSRTC management was agreeable to resolve other issues. The complex issue of absorption of TGSRTC workers in the government too was taken positively by the interlocutors.
During the discussions, the Deputy CM stressed on the need for resolution of issues through dialogue, and the cooperation of the government, TGSRTC management and workers’ unions. He said that it was during the Bharat Rashtra Samithi’s term that the State road transport undertaking was weakened.
