Authorities discovered the remains of a missing University of South Florida doctoral student and arrested his roommate on multiple charges, police said April 24, as the search for another missing student continues.
Zamil Limon and Nahida S. Bristy, both 27, were last seen in the Tampa area on April 16, according to the university's police department.
On April 24, Limon's remains were discovered on the Howard Frankland Bridge in Tampa and positively identified, Chief Deputy Joseph Maurer with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said at a news conference.
Earlier in the day, police arrested Hisham Abugarbieh, a roommate of Limon, after he barricaded himself inside a home about a mile from the university, Maurer said. Abugarbieh faces multiple charges, including domestic violence, tampering with evidence and unlawfully holding or removing a dead human body.
Maurer said authorities are "still actively searching" for Bristy, who lived on campus.
