A Fox News poll released Wednesday shows President Donald Trump and the GOP have lost considerable support from voters, spelling potential disaster for the Republicans ahead of this year’s midterms, while Democrats are leading on one key issue for the first time since 2010.
The survey was conducted between April 17 and April 20 and polled 1,001 registered voters across the U.S. It found that 56% of them believe the Trump administration has done a poor job of managing the federal government, including 4 in 10 non-MAGA Republicans.
The survey also showed that 58% of voters disapprove of Trump’s overall job performance.
Asked whether Republicans or Democrats would do a better job at handling the U.S. economy, 52% said Democrats. This is the first time voters have expressed as much since 2010, in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis under then-President Barack Obama.
The results suggest a major shift in only a few years. Republicans were favored by double digits regarding the economy in 2022, and Trump vowed ahead of the 2024 election to bring down costs and inflation.
