Charles Gasparino of Fox Business sounded the alarm on a “scary” poll showing that voters in all major swing states mostly disapprove of President Donald Trump for the first time since his return to office.
Declining support for Trump in the competitive regions could trickle down to Republicans as the 2026 midterms approach, Newsweek noted.
Linking to Newsweek’s story about the Morning Consult survey, Gasparino wrote on X Wednesday, “This has got to be scary for the White House, given the president’s recent foreign policy success, successes to end wokeness, and change the country in a better direction. I suspect the reason for his low approvals is the economy.”
Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina ― all the swing states captured by Trump in his victory over Democrat Kamala Harris ― are now home to more voters who disapprove than approve of the president’s job performance, according to the poll.
Gasparino, a senior correspondent, pivoted to partly blaming the economy’s woes on the Democrats.
