Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL), a subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) under the Ministry of Power, has issued tenders for 3,604 electric buses to expand clean public transport across India. The tenders, published on April 22, 2026, cover deployment in 45 cities across 17 States and Union Territories.

Announced in Vijayawada, the initiative includes a pre-bid meeting on May 7 and a submission deadline of June 5. It forms part of the Centre’s PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme and PM E-DRIVE Scheme. Interested stakeholders may download the tender from: https://www.convergence.co.in/tender, according to a press release.

The CESL has already issued tenders for 13,800 buses out of 14,028 sanctioned under PM E-DRIVE, building on its earlier 10,900-bus aggregation milestone. The initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions, improve urban air quality, and replace diesel buses.

CESL CEO Akhilesh Kumar Dixit said the programme aligns with India’s net-zero goals, while Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are set to benefit through allocations for key cities.
