Once known for its year-round pleasant climate, Bengaluru is now seeing a surge in air conditioner sales as temperatures climb to around 37 °Celsius, pushing residents to turn to cooling appliances in larger numbers than usual.
The spike in heat has led to a sharp rise in demand for air conditioners and coolers, with traders reporting a noticeable increase in sales compared to previous years. Retailers say the usual summer sales cycle may stretch longer this time.
“The peak season for AC sales in Bengaluru is typically three to four months, but this time it may extend beyond that. We have already seen a 30–35% increase in sales,” said a trader in Koramangala. Another retailer in the area said coolers are largely out of stock, while AC prices have begun to rise.
