CNN Commentator Van Jones torched now-resigned Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer’s husband and her father with a new nickname in his reaction to a bombshell report by The New York Times detailing their alleged “creepy” behavior with staffers.“When your daddy is in there being Creepy McCreepster, your husband is booted out because he’s Creepy McCreepster, like, this is not a good group, and Trump just lets this thing just play out,” Jones said on “The Source with Kaitlan Collins” on Monday. Chavez-DeRemer resigned from her position on Monday, following an ongoing investigation by the Labor Department’s inspector general into allegations of misconduct. Her husband, Shawn DeRemer, an anesthesiologist, was already barred from entering the department’s headquarters after at least two women accused him of sexual assault. He has denied the allegations and was not criminally charged. According to text messages reviewed by the Times, Chavez-DeRemer asked staffers to bring her wine during work trips and instructed young female staff members to “pay attention” to her husband and father, Richard Chavez. “Hearing u/r in town. Wishing you would let me know. I could have made some excuses to get out and show u around. Please keep this private,” Chavez allegedly messaged a staffer last year, according to the report. That same staffer also allegedly messaged Chavez-DeRemer’s husband separately, apologizing for not being in touch, and telling him, “I promise from now on I’ll check in.”DeRemer allegedly wrote back, “You better. I was feeling forgotten. I figured you were still in church repenting after your exposure to the demon state of Oregon.”CNN host Kaitlan Collins said, “It’s incredibly odd stuff that her father is texting staff in her department.”Jones then compared the allegations to “The Real Housewives or something like ― some crazy, like reality TV show.”CNN commentator Van Jones, left, slammed the now-resigned Secretary of Labor Lori Chavez-DeRemer, right, her husband and her father after reports of the trio’s alleged misconduct.Getty ImagesJones said, “You’re supposed to be helping Americans get jobs. You’re literally ― you’re in charge of the Department of Labor. Everybody’s hurt, and everybody’s uncertain. Everybody needs something, and these people are just doing nutty stuff.”He later added, “This should have been ended as soon as the dad was doing weird stuff. And so I think that for everyday people, they’re looking at this White House, and they’re saying, ‘This is not what I voted for, that you said we’re going to have no wars. You said we’re going to have low prices. You said we’re going to be winning and winning and winning.’ This is not winning. This type of stuff is not winning.”Close
