Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nadendla Bhaskara Rao (91) passed away on Wednesday (April 22, 2026) morning at a hospital in Hyderabad following age-related complications.
A health bulletin from Continental Hospitals said he had been under treatment for the past month and despite intensive medical care, “he could not be saved.” He breathed his last at 11.45 a.m. in the presence of his family, including sons — Andhra Pradesh Civil Supplies Minister Nadendla Manohar and Nadendla Murali.
Maiden victory in 1978
Born on June 23, 1935, in Guntur district, Bhaskara Rao graduated from Osmania University in Hyderabad and practised law before entering politics. He won his maiden election in 1978 from Vijayawada East on a Congress ticket and served as a minister in Marri Chenna Reddy’s cabinet.
