Emotional scenes unfolded in front of the mortuary of the Thrissur Medical College Hospital (MCH) in Kerala as a body of a victim of the devastating Mundathikode fireworks blast was brought out after a post-mortem examination on Wednesday (April 22, 2026) morning.
Suma wailed and screamed as she accompanied the mortal remains of her brother, Manikandan, a 60-year-old who worked at the fireworks factory in Mundathikode in Thrissur, where the massive explosion killed 13 people and injured several others.

Shortly after Manikandan’s body was handed over, the mortal remains of another worker, named Manikandan, a 33-year-old native of Kottappuram, Thrissur, was handed over to his relatives.
Among the six bodies identified, autopsy has been carried out and the bodies have been handed over to the relatives, officials said.
