Nellore police officials have busted an IPL cricket betting racket. They have arrested 12 people in the gang so far, and a search is on for two more. They have also seized ₹2.05 lakh in cash, 13 mobile phones and a television from the accused.

Revealing the case details to reporters at the Dargamitta police station in Nellore on Tuesday (April 21, 2026) evening, District Superintendent of Police Ajitha Vejendla said the police had focused on online cricket betting during the ongoing IPL season, which runs till May 24, 2026. “With the direction from the Chief Minister N. Chandrabbau Naidu and instructions of the State DGP Harish Kumar Gupta, we have focused on online cricket betting,” she said.

“Based on the tight surveillance on the old criminals involved in online betting, we have busted the IPL cricket betting racket with the evidence found in the inspections carried out in the lodges. We have identified that betting activities were done through 28 bank accounts,” she said.

Inter-state cricket betting racket busted, six arrested

The racket was unearthed on April 19 after a raid at a private hotel in Magunta Layout, under the Dargamitta police station limits. Three bank accounts linked to the racket, at Axis Bank, RBL Bank and HDFC Bank, have been frozen, the police said.
