A wedding celebration in Gujarat’s Dahod district turned into a medical emergency after hundreds of guests reported illness shortly after the feast, officials said on Tuesday (April 21, 2026).

More than 200 villagers are suspected to have suffered food poisoning following the incident in Abhlod village on Monday (April 20, 2026) night. Of them, at least 59 were admitted to hospitals, with doctors stating that all patients are currently stable.

Dahod Collector Yogesh Nirgude said around 230 attendees experienced symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhoea and abdominal pain soon after the meal.

Approximately 400 guests had partaken in the dinner, which included mango juice, at around 8 p.m. Several individuals began falling ill roughly three hours later, he added.

Those affected were taken to nearby primary and community health centres as well as private hospitals for treatment.
