Nearly 150 people fell ill in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district after eating a wedding feast, prompting the authorities to deploy late night measures for their treatment on Wednesday (March 25, 2026), officials said, adding that all patients are stable now.

According to officials, more than 1,000 guests had attended a wedding ceremony in Babadiya-Noabad village under Ichhawar sub-division after which some of them began to complain of diarrhoea, vomiting and stomach ache due to suspected food-poisoning.

Sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Swati Mishra told The Hindu that doctors at Ichhawar Civil Hospital alerted the authorities after multiple patients arrived with similar issues.

“When we inquired, we found out they all had been to the same wedding event. So, we deployed multiple teams to provide medication to the patients. Those who had minor problems were given on-spot medication while some were admitted at the Civil Hospital,” she said, adding that three patients were referred to the District Hospital in serious condition but are out of danger now.

Ms. Mishra said that food and water samples from the event have been collected and sent for examination.
