The city police’s Anti-Vice Squad (AVS) arrested a 61-year-old man for allegedly operating a prostitution racket through a WhatsApp group in Vyasarpadi.
According to police sources, the accused, Ramesh Agarwal, 61, of MKB Nagar, was apprehended following complaints from residents about the frequent movement of strangers to a house on Central Cross Street.
Acting on the information, the AVS unit raided the premises. Investigations revealed that the accused had rented the house and was using a WhatsApp group to solicit clients and coordinate the racket. During the operation, the police rescued a woman from the house and seized two mobile phones.
