Amid pressures from various Dalit groups, the Karnataka government will discuss the internal reservation matrix for 101 Scheduled Castes within the 15% reservation at a rescheduled special Cabinet meeting this Friday.

The special Cabinet meeting scheduled in the last week of March was postponed citing the Model Code of Conduct following the announcement of bypolls to Bagalkot and Davangere South Assembly constituencies.

Public appointments in State have almost stalled owing to confusion in internal reservation besides a slew of cases in the High Court of Karnataka on issues of reservation.

Meanwhile, the government has announced one of the biggest recruitment drives to fill 56,432 posts.

Details of the special Cabinet meeting was made known on Monday, and follows pressure exerted by Dalit Left (Madigas) Ministers — K.H. Muniyappa and R.B. Thimmapur — on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah during the last Cabinet meeting on Thursday to finalise the internal reservation matrix.
