The Kankanady Town police have arrested two alleged drug peddlers and have seized 465.8 grams of MDMA worth ₹46.5 lakh from them.

The police gave the names of the accused as Parvez alias Dawood Parvez, 40, and Nazarath Ali, 37, both from Permannoor in Mangaluru taluk.

In a press release, the Kankanady Town police said they were tipped off regarding persons selling narcotics on a motorcycle in Jeppinamogaru. The police arrested Parvez and Ali on Sunday.

The police said Parvez has been peddling drugs for a long time. He was procuring the drugs from other parts of the country and supplying them to college students and other youth in Mangaluru. Apart from cases registered in Mangaluru South, Mangaluru Rural, and Mangaluru North Police Stations, Parvez has been booked for drug peddling by the Bengaluru’s Amrutahalli and the Udupi CEN Police Stations. Nazarath Ali was helping Parvez in peddling the narcotics.

The police said the two were produced before the jurisdictional court on Monday, and they were remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
