Longtime CNN correspondent Stephanie Elam is leaving the network after two decades of covering news for the broadcast giant.

Elam, 52, officially announced her departure in an April 18 statement shared by Variety.

"For more than 20 years I’ve been in the CNN orbit developing and delivering news stories on everything from the environment and entertainment to business and breaking news of all kinds," she said. "I’m so proud of my CNN career. Live or taped, writing packages or doing a show-and-tell, I’ve done it all — and having a front row seat to document history has been a gift."

She did not share any further information about her future plans.

Elam began her career with CNN as a freelance anchor/reporter out of New York City in 2005, according to her public LinkedIn page, before becoming a business correspondent in 2007. She briefly left the network from 2011 to 2012 to work at KNBC, an NBC station based in Los Angeles, before returning to CNN in March 2013, still based in LA.
