Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma said on Monday (April 20, 2026) that the Opposition parties, led by the Congress, had turned the Government’s attempt to pass the Constitutional Amendment for Women’s Reservation into a “dark chapter” by voting to reject it. “The women of the country will never forgive them,” Mr. Sharma said.
Mr. Sharma flagged off a ‘Jan Akrosh Mahila Padyatra’ at the BJP’s State headquarters here in the presence of a battery of ruling party leaders. He accused the Opposition of opposing women’s rights because of their “dynastic mindset” and suppressing the aspirations of women.
Mr. Sharma said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would ensure that women receive their “full and rightful entitlements”. “The Opposition will pay a heavy price for this conspiracy to usurp women’s rights and crush the dreams of half the population,” he said.
The Chief Minister stated that while the “double engine government” in Rajasthan was actively working for women’s empowerment, the ambitious schemes launched by the BJP-led Government at the Centre had set new standards for women’s welfare.
Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari also addressed the gathering before joining the march. Among others, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Manju Baghmar, Jaipur MP Manju Sharma, and BJP Mahila Morcha president Rakhee Rathore participated part in the march.
