At a webinar on the ‘Future of Multidisciplinary Learning’ organised by the SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and The Hindu, experts underscored the importance of multidisciplinary learning to aid fluid thinking and to make informed career choices.
“It helps students upskill themselves and explore a plethora of hybrid careers,” A. Vinay Kumar, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Science and Humanities, Management), at SRMIST, Chennai.
“The world is full of problems, and to be able to find a solution to them is the whole purpose of education. The next two decades are going to be a huge step-up for India, and students have to be future-ready,” Viswanath B. Kasi, mentor, investor, and advisor, and global commodity trading professional, international trading track, said.
A. Duraisamy, Dean, Faculty of Science and Humanities at SRMIST, said that universities like SRM were allotting one-third of the students’ credit points towards inter-and multi-disciplinary courses.
Multidisciplinary learning improves confidence and critical thinking, and helps tackle real-world problems, technical professional advisor in technology, KBR India, Poorna Pushkala Ayyappan, said.
