Thieves looted passengers travelling in Bengaluru-Narsapur Special Train in Bapatla district in the wee hours on Sunday (April 19, 2026). However, no passenger was injured in the incident.
About ten thieves robbed the passengers at knife point in the running train around 2 a.m. Passengers in S-11, S-12 and S-13 bogies were forced to give away their valuables and the thieves escaped with about 10 sovereigns of gold and other valuables, the victims said.
Later, the robbers stopped the train near Appikatla village, jumped out and escaped into the dark, the passengers said.
“On receiving information, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot and launched a hunt to nab the thieves,” said Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Shanmuga Vadivel.
“We are trying to find out which gang struck on Bengaluru-Narsapur Express,” Mr. Vadivel told The Hindu.
