Congress MP K.C. Venugopal on Thursday asked the government to withdraw the Constitution (One Hundred and Thirty-First Amendment) Bill, 2026 in its current form and call an all-party meeting to evolve a consensus on implementing the women’s reservation.
Participating in a discussion on the Bill in the Lok Sabha, he said the government’s intention was to push through delimitation in the garb of the Women’s Reservation Bill.

‘Sabotaging democracy’
“In the name of women’s reservation, you are trying to sabotage the democracy. You are trying to diminish the status of the States for political ends,” he said, while adding: “Please withdraw the Bill. Call an all-party meeting. We will give you suggestions. We are ready.”
