India is mulling an amendment to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam or the Women’s Reservation Act that will mandate 33% reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies.
However, the government’s plan to link the reservation amendments to the delimitation has created a sharp political divide.

The BJP proposes increasing Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 816 to ensure women get 273 reserved seats without reducing the current number of seats held by men.
