The Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) in Telangana has cancelled the Final MBBS General Surgery Paper-I (regular) examination conducted on April 15, citing discrepancies between the old and new regulations, and has rescheduled it to April 27.
According to a press note issued by the university, the decision was taken after it was found that there was a mismatch between the syllabus prescribed under the old regulations and the updated curriculum aligned with National Medical Commission (NMC) guidelines. Certain chapters that were earlier part of General Surgery Paper-I under the old regulations have now been shifted to General Surgery Paper-II in the revised framework.
As a result of this transition, some questions that were meant to appear in the new regulation format were included in the Paper-I examination conducted under the old regulations on April 15. This led to confusion among students and prompted multiple representations to the university. Taking note of these concerns, the university decided to cancel the examination in the interest of fairness, the note said.
