April 10 (UPI) -- Golfer Robert MacIntyre flipped off the green at Augusta, putting himself at risk for disciplinary action at the 2026 Masters Tournament.

MacIntyre issued the gesture on hole No. 15 during his first round at the major Thursday in Augusta, Ga. The No. 8 player in the Official World Golf Ranking fired an 8-over-80 and was tied for 82nd through his first 18 holes.

PGA Tour officials deferred to those from Augusta National Golf Club when asked Friday about potential disciplinary measures MacIntyre could face due to his actions, which also included the use of expletives in front of fans and smacking his clubs into the lawn of the renowned property.

Augusta officials did not immediately respond when asked about potential discipline for MacIntyre.

Several players commented this week about the expected firm and fast nature the course this week due to the weather in Augusta. MacIntyre was victimized by those conditions, resulting in his poor score.
