In a bid to improve women’s safety and privacy, the Hyderabad police on Friday (April 10, 2026) launched specialised ‘She Netra’ teams to detect and prevent the use of hidden cameras in public and private spaces across the city.

The initiative was formally rolled out by Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar at the Old Commissionerate Office in Basheerbagh, where advanced camera detector kits were distributed to the newly-formed teams.

Seven dedicated teams were constituted, one for each police zone, and trained in standard operating procedures and the use of sophisticated surveillance detection equipment. These units will conduct regular and surprise inspections in locations such as hotels, malls, hostels, educational institutions and commercial complexes.

the police said the teams would focus on identifying and removing hidden surveillance devices, particularly in sensitive areas like trial rooms, hospital spaces and accommodation facilities. The police have warned of strict criminal action against individuals or establishments found to have installed or facilitated hidden cameras, stressing a zero-tolerance approach to violations of privacy.
