The Hindu received three awards at the IAA Olive Crown Awards 2026, held at Taj Lands End, Mumbai. The newspaper won Gold for ‘Glacier Melts Felt’ (World Water Day) and ‘Stub The Habit’ (World No Tobacco Day), and Silver for ‘The Last Pack’ (World Wildlife Day). All campaigns were created by Ogilvy and won in the Press Corporate category.
The Olive Crown Awards, organised by the International Advertising Association’s India Chapter, recognise communication on sustainability and environmental responsibility.
‘Glacier Melts Felt’ used print advertisements that matched the actual size of ice melt, showing glacier loss directly. ‘The Last Pack’ linked species extinction to the loss of familiar foods. ‘Stub The Habit’ used a newspaper sleeve shaped like a cigarette to show the cost of smoking.
L.V. Navaneeth, CEO of The Hindu Group, said the campaigns aim to inform readers and encourage change around environmental concerns.
Separately, Chupps Footwear and its agency Into Creative won 10 Olive Crowns, including Green Brand of the Year and Green Advertiser of the Year for the ‘Biodegradable World’ campaign. The IAA Olive Crown Awards, launched in 2011, are India’s first awards focused on green advertising.
