The two-week ceasefire announced just a day ago is on the brink of ending after Israel’s attack on Lebanon killed at least 182 people. Iran-backed Hezbollah retaliated by targetting Israel.

While Israel claims the ceasefire agreement does not extend to its war in Lebanon against Hezbollah, mediator Pakistan said it does.

Meanwhile, Iran announced alternative routes on Thursday (April 9, 2026) for ships travelling through the Strait of Hormuz, citing the risk of sea mines in the main zone of the vital waterway.
