An onsite First Information Report (FIR) was registered in a chain snatching case reported from Kondannaguda village under Shadnagar police limits on Thursday (April 9), marking the implementation of a new system aimed at faster case registration.

The victim, Veeramma, said the incident occurred at around 2.30 p.m. while she was sitting at her farm. An unidentified person arrived on a motorcycle, approached her from behind and snatched a gold chain, weighing about four tolas, before fleeing.

Police officials reached the spot soon after receiving information, recorded the complaint and registered the case at the scene. Officials said the onsite FIR system has been introduced in the Future City Commissionerate to provide quicker police services and minimise delays in filing cases.

An investigation has been taken up to trace the accused. Police said more such measures would be implemented to improve public safety and access to services.
