A total of 2,328 senior citizens aged above 85 and 1,465 persons with disabilities falling under the six Assembly constituencies in Pudukottai district have expressed their willingness to cast their postal votes from their home in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly election.
The senior citizens and persons with over 40 % disability have submitted Form 12 D in this regard. The Pudukottai district administration has arranged for postal votes for such persons in every Assembly constituency as per the Election Commission norms.
The Pudukottai district consists of Pudukottai, Thirumayam, Gandharvakottai (SC), Viralimalai, Alangudi, and Aranthangi Assembly constituencies. Form 12 D has been received from 3,793 voters, including 2,328 senior citizens aged above 85. The field-level teams constituted by the district administration would visit the residences of these voters on April 13 and 14 and on April 18 and 19 to enable them cast their postal votes and collect them.
Information about the arrival of the teams would be conveyed to the voters concerned over the phone one day in advance. The micro observers would monitor the postal ballot and the same would be videographed. However, the confidentiality of ballot would be protected.
