Adulterated and substandard food items worth approximately ₹2 lakh were seized by the police during a special enforcement drive conducted in Mailardevpally on Wednesday.
The drive targeted multiple food manufacturing units dealing in sweets, bakery products and packaged snack items. During the inspections, authorities found several units producing or storing substandard food products.
Among those booked were Maruthi Foods in Kattedan, where kurkure-type snacks worth around ₹15,000 were seized, and Indian Bakery and Sweets House, where biscuits and other bakery items valued at approximately ₹15,000 were confiscated. At Krishna Food Products in Laxmiguda, mixture items worth about ₹10,000 were seized.
The largest seizure was reported at BS Food Products in Laxmiguda, where eatables valued at nearly ₹1.5 lakh were confiscated.
Cases have been registered against the respective unit owners under relevant legal provisions, and further investigation is under way.
