Bihar Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Sanjay Saraogi on Monday (April 6, 2026) gave a clear indication that soon the BJP would be occupying the top post in the State.
The occasion was the 47th foundation day of the party’s State headquarters, in which top leaders of the state were present, including deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who is the front-runner to succeed Chief Minister Nitish Kumar next week.
Mr. Kumar is likely to take oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha on April 10 and would subsequently step down as Chief Minister on April 12, with a new Chief Minister from the BJP quota possibly taking oath on April 14.
It would be the first time in Bihar that the top post in the State would be occupied by the BJP. Mr. Kumar had recently resigned from the membership of the Bihar Legislative Council on March 30.
