“Daily Show” correspondent Desi Lydic took a long-shot attempt at goading President Donald Trump into leaving office by dangling the prospect of beginning the construction of his presidential library, which the president said he wouldn’t start until he was out of office.

“Wait, you wouldn’t start until you’re out of office?” Lydic asked before dramatically shifting to a new camera angle. “Mr. President, we need this library – that is mostly a hotel – as soon as possible. You should leave office and start building it right now. We can’t wait a second longer.”

Lydic also suggested that Trump bring Vice President JD Vance along with him to “supervise” the project.

“Yes, we are losing your administration, but we are gaining so much more in hotel-brary,” Lydic said. “No worries if not, fingers crossed emoji.”

Trump’s son, Eric Trump, revealed early renderings for the planned Trump library on Tuesday.
