The Delhi police have arrested a 61-year-old man for running an illegal LPG refilling racket in south-west Delhi’s Dabri area and seized 17 cooking gas cylinders during a raid, a senior officer said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid on Tuesday in the Seetapuri locality, where the accused, Mohan Lal Garg, was running an unauthorised LPG refilling operation from his shop, the police said. Officers recovered 17 domestic LPG cylinders belonging to different companies, including Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum, the officer said.

Initial probe revealed that Mr. Garg had been illegally storing domestic LPG cylinders and refilling them for sale in the open market at inflated rates of around ₹200 per kg, to make unlawful gains.

A food supply officer was called to the spot to initiate necessary action.

The seized cylinders were handed over to the local police station, and a case has been registered, the senior officer said.
