The Tiruchi City Police have issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) with a set of conditions for the election campaign meeting of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam founder and actor Vijay here on Thursday.
Mr. Vijay, who has announced his candidature for Tiruchi East Assembly constituency, will file his nomination papers to the Returning Officer and then proceed to the meeting venue at Marakkadai near MGR statue for the campaign. It is the same venue from where he launched his State-wide political tour in September last.
Police sources say the NOC has been issued with a set of over 25 conditioncs and is addressed to the Returning Officer of Tiruchi East Assembly constituency. Vijay has been provided ‘Y’ grade security with Central Reserve Police Force cover. He is expected to arrive here by a special flight from Chennai on Thursday to file his nomination papers.
One of the conditions stipulated for Vijay’s campaign meeting is that there should be no bursting of crackers or any inflammable material. Also, he should not participate in any other event other than the campaign. In view of the prevailing summer heat, the organisers should ensure sufficient drinking water facility at the venue besides stationing medical teams and ambulances at the venue.
