In a shocking incident, a Class X student, allegedly figuring in a gruesome murder, reportedly absconded with a few of his friends and relatives in Chinnamanur in Theni district on Tuesday.
Police said Surya, 28, a daily wage earner, was murdered by a gang, which included the Class X boy. It is said that Surya scolded the teenaged boy for talking with his sister, who was also studying in the same school.
Irked by the way Surya shouted at him, the boy told some of his friends and relatives, who attacked Surya with deadly weapons, in which he died on Sunday night.
The body was sent to the government hospital for a post-mortem examination.
Since “there was no tangible action by the police”, the relatives of the victim resorted to a road blockade on Tuesday. They squatted on the busy Chinnamanur-Cumbum highway. The police said traffic was diverted for over two hours.
