Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday rejected reports that pink mobility cards enabling free bus travel for women residents of Delhi can be used only once per hour. She termed such rumours “complete lies and political propaganda” and said the cards can be used multiple times within short intervals.
The Pink National Common Mobility Cards (PNCMC), launched in March by President Droupadi Murmu, are being issued through 50 centres, including District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrate offices, and designated bus stations.
As women commuters with Delhi address proof continue to queue up at these centres to collect their cards, rumours are circulating that they cannot be used more than once within an hour.
Ms. Gupta said in a video message posted on X that commuters can use the card even with “gaps of 5, 10 and 15 minutes”.
“A rumour is being spread that if you tap your pink card once in a bus and then you get off and board another bus, then the card does not work. These are complete lies and political propaganda,” she said.
