Two persons were killed and a youth sustained injuries, when two motorcycles collided head-on near Goraphur village, under Dumbriguda police station limits in Alluri Sitharama Raju district, late on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as M. Srinu (28), a native of Hukumpeta, and Killo Joseph (24) from Araku mandal.
According to the Dumbriguda police, Srinu along with Siva Kumar, both from Hukumpeta, were travelling to Chattuva village at around 11:30 p.m to attend the festival of the local deity. At the same time, Joseph was heading towards Araku from Chattuva. The accident occurred near Goraphur when the two motorcycles, travelling in opposite directions, collided head-on.
Srinu, who was riding pillion, died on the spot after sustaining severe head injuries. Siva Kumar suffered a fracture to his leg and was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Joseph succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to a hospital.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
