A serious security lapse at a private resort in Araku Valley in Alluri Sitharama Raju district led to the murder of a 25-year-old man. The incident came to light on Sunday, after police swiftly solved the case and caught three juveniles allegedly involved in the crime.

Addressing a press conference at the Araku Valley Police Station, DSP V. Abhishek of Paderu said that the victim N. Suresh (25), a native of Terlam mandal in Vizianagaram district, had earlier worked as an accountant at a private resort in Araku, where he became acquainted with a woman from Padmapuram village. After leaving his job, Suresh married another woman and shifted to Hyderabad. However, he continued to keep in touch with the woman from Padmapuram village. On March 24, Suresh visited Araku Valley and checked into a private resort along with the woman.

According to the police, three minor boys, employed as room boys at the resort allegedly planned to sexually exploit the woman. At around 8:30 p.m., they reportedly approached Suresh’s room, and demanded that he hand over the woman to them. This led to a heated argument between Suresh, the woman, and the minors.

The DSP said: "The minors then allegedly hatched a plan and brought knives from the resort’s kitchen. When Suresh and the woman vacated the room and attempted to leave the premises, the three minors intercepted them at the main gate. In the ensuing attack, Suresh was stabbed multiple times and killed on the spot. The accused allegedly attempted to abduct the woman, but fled the scene after they were noticed by others, leaving her behind."
