The police seized ₹50 lakh in unaccounted cash from a car parked under suspicious circumstances near Vepery in Chennai on Friday night. The individuals in the vehicle were identified as Aswanth, 34, a manager at Accord Distilleries Private Limited in T. Nagar, and Kurumban, 31, an office staff of the same firm. Both are being questioned.

According to police sources, information was received by the Vepery Inspector about a vehicle with a Puducherry registration number stationed on Gopal Street in Choolai. Acting on the tip-off, a team rushed to the spot and conducted a check at around 8.30 pm.

During the search, police found ₹50 lakh in cash inside the car. As the occupants failed to produce valid documents for the money, the amount was seized. The police said the cash was handed over to the Election Flying Squad Team. The seized amount was later taken to the Egmore Government Treasury.
