The Taiwan Education Centre (TEC) was inaugurated at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and SRM TRP Engineering College on Thursday, to enhance academic cooperation and provide opportunities for students.
According to an official release, TEC was launched in the presence of representatives from SRM Group of Institutions, National Tsing Hua (NTH) University, Taiwan, and Taipei Economic Cultural Centre in India (TECC) on Thursday.
The centre will focus on areas of mutual interest and strategic importance such as technology, engineering, and sustainable development.
R. Shivakumar, chairman, SRM Group of Institutions, Mumin Chennai, Taiwan representative to India-TECC, and Wei Chung Wang, professor and director, Centre for India Studies, NTH University, spoke.
The TEC initiative is expected to benefit students from SRMIST, who are pursuing internship in Taiwan to leverage global opportunities and pursue higher education, according to the release.
