Bishop of Mangaluru Diocese Peter Paul Saldanha who is also Chairman of the Commission for Liturgy in Konkani unveiled the newly translated and compiled Konkani Roman Missal at the Diocesan level here on Wednesday.
The book was unveiled during the opening session of the two-day annual pastoral consultation of the diocese at St. Anthony’s Charity Institutes, Jeppu.
The diocesan launch follows the Missal’s national release earlier on February 3, 2026, in Bengaluru.
With the Missal, three other publications were also released. They were ‘Extract from the Konkani Romi Misa-Gronth’, a booklet containing extracts from the Missal; ‘Amchem Mis Tacha Ugdasak: Mis ani Misacha Bhagamcho Arth’, a Konkani explanatory booklet authored by Fr. Valerian Fernandes of Rosario Cathedral; and ‘Together Forever in Christ: Reflections on the Sacrament of Marriage’, an English resource book edited by Fr. Alwyn Richard D’Souza, Diocesan Secretary of the Family Commission.
Speaking on the occasion, the Bishop announced that the new Missal will be officially implemented in the diocese on June 7, 2026.
