March 23 (UPI) -- A North Carolina man who hasn't missed a Powerball drawing in about 10 years had his persistence pay off with a $2 million prize.

Dover resident Dietrich Kilpatrick told North Carolina Education Lottery officials he bought his ticket for the March 16 drawing at JD Gas & Grocery on N.C. 55 in Dover.

He said playing Powerball has become part of his regular routine.

"I've been buying Quick Picks in every drawing for like 10 years," he said.

Kilpatrick's ticket earned him a $2 million prize, the largest prize awarded nationally in the March 16 drawing.
