The Metropolitan Magistrate court in Upperpally granted the police three-day custody of the three accused, including former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy in the Moinabad farmhouse drugs case. The custody will be in effect from 4.30 p.m. on Monday, March 23, to 4.30 p.m. on Thursday, March 26.
Rohith Reddy, his brother Rakesh Reddy, and businessman Namith Sharma were produced before the court, where police sought 10 days custody of the accused citing the need for further interrogation to gather evidence and examine possible links. The defence opposed the request before the court granted custody of all three accused.
Officials said that the place of questioning is yet to be finalised, with options including the Shamshabad office or another location to avoid public attention. The accused are expected to be questioned on the events at the farmhouse, procurement of drugs, and the circumstances under which a firearm was discharged.
The case pertains to a raid conducted on March 14 at a farmhouse in Moinabad belonging to Rohith Reddy, where about two grams of cocaine was reportedly seized. Ten persons present at the premises were detained, including Putta Mahesh Kumar, MP from Eluru, and Moraganeni Ramesh, 49.
